Kea:

(Over the phone)

Kea:” I think have him right where I want him chomie.”

Friend:” You don’t say?”

Kea:” Yes Rato, ke serious wa tseba.”

Rato:” Want a friendly advice?”

Kea:” No Rato please, don’t rain on my glory please.”

Rato:” As your friend, I only want to help.”

Kea:” Well I didn’t ask for your help.”

(Message alert: Sands)

Rato:” Alright then, just don’t come to me when things go south.”

Kea:” I know what I’m doing. Look I have to go, just received a text from Sands and I need to respond. Update you later?”

Rato:” (Sigh) of course. Just so you know, I don’t condone this behaviour.”

Kea:” Bye mom.”

I hung up and read Sands’ message.

Him: Send me your location.

A smile crept up on my face, you know what? I might actually win him over. In no time he’ll fall for me and then he’ll dump Lindo and after that I finish off with Zee. (Evil smile.)

(Send location to Sands)

>LOCATION<

Me: Hope to see you soon.

I went to the bathroom to freshen up, I have to look the part when he gets here. Ever since we did the deed I just can’t stop thinking about him. I really hope the feeling is mutual.

(News Café Menlyn)

Lindo:” You sure took your time wherever you disappeared to.” She frowned.

Me:” I’m sorry babe, eish I…” Sat down.

Lindo:” Where were you Sandile?”

Me:” I was in the…”

Lindo:” Please think carefully about your response because if you dare say the gents I’m walking out of here…”

Me:” But I was in the gents’ babe…”

Lindo:” Sandile you’re lying to me, why are you lying?”

Me:” But I’m not…”

Lindo:” You know what I’m leaving. I’ll catch a taxi home.”

Me:” Baby don’t be like that.”

She waved at Chloe and she came over instantly smiling.

Chloe:” Yes…”

Lindo:” Would you please place this in a takeaway for me, thanks.”

Chloe:” Sure, and you sir?”

I looked at her defeated.

Me:” What the heck, you might as well. Thank you.”

She left with our plates.

Me:” You know this was supposed to our time?”

Lindo:” And you messed it up.”

(Message alert: Kea)

>LOCATION<

Her: Hope to see you soon.

Lindo:” Your phone is rather busy today. What’s going on?”

Me:” That’s my mom, I guess since we’re not eating in anymore I’ll go home and see what she wants.”

Chloe:” Here you go.”

Me:” Thank you Chloe, bill please?”

Chloe:” I’ll go get it.”

Lindo:” (Laughs) Chloe? Really? I don’t remember us getting her name.”

Me:” Don’t start please, I come here all the time so I know the staff.”

Lindo:” Mxim!!! Bye…”

She took her takeout and handbag and stormed off. That didn’t go well at all. I settled the bill, took what’s mine and left biding Chloe goodbye.

(At the Tau Residence.)

Rato and Tebo were sitting in the lounge watching TV.

Rato:” Mor’abo rôna” (Brother).

Tebo:” Yeah…”

Rato:” Can I ask you something and please don’t judge?”

Tebo:” Rato please, no boy talk because I’ll mess me up a nigga!”

Rato:” Relax it’s about a friend of mine, I’m scared she’s making reckless decisions.”

Tebo:” And that affects you how?”

Rato:” It doesn’t affect me or has any effect on me…”

Tebo:” Exactly!”

Rato:” Tebo please?”

Tebo:” What do you want me to say Rato? I don’t want to hear about your girl troubles with your friend. I have problems of own.”

She stood up.

Rato:” What a big brother you are! I wish I had a big sister because you and Mpho are just useless!”

She went straight to her bedroom.

“Ke eng eo bana ba bang ba e loantšang hona joale?” (What are you kids fighting about now?).

Tebo:” U tseba kamoo Lerato o joang ‘mè.” (You know how Lerato gets mom).

Mom:” From what I picked up from your conversation is that she wanted some advice Tebogo.”

Tebo:” Che ‘mè Lerato is just too much.”

Mom:” She approached you calmly Tebogo hle.”

Tebo: No ma, Lerato and I ha re metsoalle!” (We are not friends).

Mom:” But you are brother and sister, and in this case you are the eldest. You should have at least listened to what she had to say?”

Tebo:” Okay fine, I hear you and I’ll talk to her but later.”

Mom:” That’s my boy.” She smiled and went back to the kitchen.

(In the taxi)

Lindo:

(Over the phone)

Her:” (Teary) it just doesn’t make any sense Zee...”

Zee:” What really happened friend?”

Her:” He received something on his phone, which I assume was disturbing because he started coughing hysterically then he rushed off to the toilet and he was gone for about an hour 30 minutes or so.”

Zee:” No…”

Her:” Yes and when he finally got back he lied and said that he was at the toilet.” Sobbed.

Zee:” And you don’t believe him?”

Her:” Yes I don’t, because I went to the gents to look for him and he was not there… Zee could he be cheating on me?”

Zee:” Uhm… I wouldn’t know babe but what I do know is that he loves you.”

Her:” (Sigh) Sometimes love is not enough. The taxi is approaching where I get off. Later.”

Zee:” Wait you took a taxi?”

Her:” Yes…”

Zee:” At this time Lindo? Why didn’t he take you home?”

Her:” Because I didn’t want him to. Bye Zara.”

She hung up.

Her:” Ngi cela uk’yehla ekhoneni?” (May I please get off at the corner?).
