Amo:” Thank you for the amazing night and pleasant morning.” He smiled. Me:” No, thank you for requesting me to be your date, it was an honour.” I smiled. Amo:” Can we do this again sometime but beyond school grounds? I really enjoyed your company.” Me:” Sure, I’d love that. You were not too bad yourself. Thanks for the ride.” Amo:” Anytime beautiful.” Me:” Bye.” I kissed him on the cheek and got off. Amo: (Rolls car window down) Can I call you later?” Me:” Of course Mr Qubeka.” I smiled. He smiled and drove off as I waved goodbye.

What a night and morning, the Qubeka’s are a very lovely and kind family. I got into the house and it seemed as if mom was still asleep. Must’ve had a late night. I went straight to my room and changed into comfortable clothes.

(Phone ringing) I answered without checking the caller ID. Me:” I thought you said that you were going to call me later?” I laughed. Voice:” Hey Zee…” Me:” Oh sorry, I thought you were someone else. Hey Tebo.” Him:” How are you doing?” Me:” I’m good thanks and you?” Him:” I’m okay, I guess.” Awkward silence… Him:” Are you busy?” Me:” Not really, I just got home.” Him:” O-kay, rough night?” Me:” Uhm… Tebo I don’t mean to be rude but is there a reason why you called?” Him:” Yes, of course. Can I see you later?” Me:” I’ll see if I can, can I call you later and I’ll let you know?” Him:” Yeah, no problem.” Me:” Sure, bye.”

I hung up before he could reply, that was so awkward. I don’t know what Tebo is all about. One moment he wants nothing to do with me, the next his sending abo Thabo and calling wanting to see me. He needs to make up his mind. I lay on my bed after changing and within seconds I was out.

Sands: Mom:” Sandile Hlathi?” She screamed at her top of her lungs. I came down the stairs running. Me:” Yeah…” Mom:” Where did you sleep last night?” Me:” In my room, on my bed.” I brought my eyebrows together. Mom:” Don’t give me attitude young man, I’m still your mother.” Me:” Yeah I know. I’m old now and very much responsible.” Mom:” (Shakes head) Is that how you’re going to talk to me?” Me:” I’m sorry mom but I was sleeping, peacefully so and you woke me up to ask me where I slept last night? Really? I’m here, home and in one piece. That should make you happy. I’m going back to sleep, please don’t wake me up.” I went back to my room. Mom is a handful sometimes, like whenever she’s home it has to be known that she’s around and she gets on my last nerve. I don’t even know when she got back from the UK.

(Message alert: Kea) Her: So you just gon' smash and run off? No goodbye or see you around Kea? Or that was nice thanks? You gon’ do me like that Sandile?

I just read Kea’s text and didn’t reply. I gave her what she wanted, now she just needs to back off. If she wants danger again she needs to come up with another strategy because I don’t have time for her bullshit.

(Message alert: Kea) Her: You just gon’ ignore me like that?

I switched my phone off and lay on my bed reminiscing about what transpired between Kea and I. In all honesty though, she’s amazing in bed.

(Zee’s house)

Mike:” We need to talk Tumi please…” Mom:” Talk about what Mike huh? You haven’t been home for over a month now and suddenly you want to talk?” Mike:” I’m sorry for everything, however we need to settle this.” Mom:” Please leave…” Tears graced her eyes. Mike:” This divorce is going to happen Tumi whether you like it or not. Yes, I loved you, I still do but I’m not in love with you anymore. I haven’t been for years now and I’d like for us to be civil with one another for Zara’s sake.” Mom:” You leave my daughter out of this you bastard!!! I’ll see you in court. I’ll show you…” Mike:” There’s no need for all the drama, we can settle out of court.” Mom:” I will do no such thing, you think you can break my heart over and over again and get away with it? Well mister that’s not going to happen, I’ll sue you for all you’re worth.” Mike:” It’s no use talking to you when you’re emotional like this. Call me when you’re calm.” He walked out. Mom:” Ja vele hamba! Hamba! Just go… you’re such a dog Mike!!!!” She reached for the glass on the counter and threw it against the door just as it closed and she broke down and cried. Me:” Mom???” I screamed out to her running down the stairs. Me:” Mom… Are you okay? I heard something break.” Mom:” (Sniff) it is okay honey, go back to your room. I’ll clean this up.” Me:” Mom what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Mom:” (Stood up) I can’t baby girl, I love your dad so much it hurts…” She burst into tears. Me:” (Teary) I… I understand mom. The heart chooses who to love. It’s never up to us.” Mom:” And… And now I have to learn to leave without him Zara. How do I do that? I’ve been with your dad all my life, since High School. Even when he went to London to study he came back for me. I know his family never wanted me but he wanted me and proved it by marrying me. Kodwa ke he doesn’t love me anymore. He just doesn’t want me (sigh)..."

She placed her head on her arms and cried harder. I didn’t know what to do. I thought I got through to her yesterday but now it’s like we’re back to square one. How do I even get her to see that there’s more to life than my dad? She must really love him. Me:” I may not understand what you’re going through but mom please, look at yourself… Is this how you want to live the rest of your life? Come on, you’re still a sexy mama you’ll find someone better than dad, who won’t even think about cheating on you. Please mom?” Mom:” You’ll never understand Zara, I don’t want anybody else I want your dad. We're going to fix everything you’ll see.” She stood up and went to the lounge. I just sat down and broke down in silence. This divorce is going to leave me in shambles, I wish I didn’t have to go through all of this. I’m the one who’s suffering the most and they are not even considering my feelings. This is just not fair on me.

(Took out her phone and sent a message) Me: We can meet. Tell me the time and I’ll be there…

(Message alert: Tebo) Him: How about 16:30, same spot as last time?” Me: Cool, see you at 16:30

Sands: Me:” Baby I’m on my way are you ready?” Lindo:” Yes love, I’ve been waiting for your call.” Me:” You miss me that much huh?” Lindo:” Yep! We didn’t get to spend time together yesterday.” Me:” And I’m sorry about that. I’ll see you in the next 15 minutes yeah.” Lindo:” Alright babe. Bye.”
