After assembly we went to our respective classes, I walked alone because I wanted to start at the loo first before going to class, I was busy on my phone going through my News Feeds on Facebook when I bumped into Tebo and Thabo, seems like they were also heading the same direction. Me:” Hey guys.” I smiled. It was awkward greeting them both considering the fact that Tebo made it clear that I am not to communicate with him ever. I couldn’t go like Hey Thabo, now could I? T’bose:” Hey Zee, looking stunning like always.” Tebo just walked past me as I stopped to talk to Thabo. Me:” Thank you Thabo, you’re not too bad yourself.” I faked a smile. T’bose:” What’s going on with you and the brother?” Me:” You should be asking him that, not me. I have to go. Bye.” I rushed to the toilet, did my business and took a moment in the cubical after I was done. Why would Tebo be so rude? I can’t really force myself to date him when I don’t love him. I wish he could look past everything and allow us to be friends’ at least, I mean we get along so well together. I wiped away the tears that were gracing my cheeks and finally walked out of the cubical. I fixed myself up, washed my hands and went to class.

Kea:” I thought you were bunking yaz.” I wonder what I got myself into with this one. Me:” I can never Kea, education is the key to success or so they say…” Kea:” So where did you disappear to? Hope you didn’t run off with Sandile?” She raised her brow. Okay… Did I miss something? Did she just suggest that I was with Sandile? Na-ah this girl is testing me now. Me:” You know what? I …” “Morning class.” Saved by the teacher, I was about to have her head for breakfast. Who does she think she is questioning me like that? And what if I was with Sandile, how does that concern her? She is going to be a torn in my flesh. Kea:” I wonder if Lindo knows what you guys get up to.” After she said that she went over to her seat. This bitch, is she trying to start something?

Anyhow, classes commenced, this day was like any other day except that we were wearing casual clothes, something that doesn’t happen that often because of our uptight Principal.

Catching up with work that I missed out on was not that much of a challenge since I am good at academics, everything was fairly easy. Amo is still helping out with most of the catching up so I sit with him in each and every class.

Come break time, I was tired and just decided I’ll chill in class instead of going out. I have a lot to think about and staying here is just what I need. Kea:” You’re not coming?” Me:” No, you can go ahead. Tell the others that I need to be alone, you know… some time to myself.” Kea:” Or you just don’t want to see Sandile and Lindo all cosy and what not…” Me:” What?” I brought my eyebrows together. Kea:” Yes Zee, anyone can see that there’s something going on between you two it’s just that Lindo is too dump to see it. I mean, even Livia shares the same sentiment.” I didn’t even know what to say to her, we’ve been friends for like 2 days and already she’s acting like the important one. Me:” (Calmly) Kea make yourself disappear before I do something I’ll regret.” I clenched my jaw. Kea:” Hurts doesn’t it? Yep, the truth does hurt, it always does.” She had a smug on her face. She took her bag and walked out. Kea is a loose cannon, she’s going to stir up trouble just you wait and see. I need to be careful around her, I can’t be giving her ammunition because that will be the end of me and Lindo for good. “So you’re not having your lunch?” I looked up. Me:” No, is Mr Qubeka willing to share his?” I smiled. Amo:” Well if Ms Fonté were to ask me nicely, I might consider it.” He winked. Me:” O-kay, would you please share your lunch with me Amogelang?” (Puppy eyes). Amo:” See now if you put it like that, I might just consider sharing my lunch…” Me:” And what’s stopping you from actually sharing it with me?” Amo:” Well a kiss might actually seal the deal.” He smiled. I looked at him and smiled, I stood up and stood in front of him. I leaned in for a kiss, he came closer and as our lips were about to touch I yanked the food from his grip. Me:” In your dreams.” I laughed. He had bought bacon and cheese burger with slap chips. Amo:” I can’t believe you did that to me? You’re full of tricks neh?” Me:” Come let’s eat, I’m hungry.” I pulled out a chair for him next to me and we dug in. We were talking about the ball and what we were going to wear, we wanted to turn heads so we discussed on what outfits would best fit the occasion. Amo is such great company, he made me forget about everything and everyone.

Amo:” So tell me, why are you still single?” Me:” Because I haven’t met the one and the one I thought was the one is not the one. Get it?” Amo:” (Laughs) and who might that be?” Me:” You actually…” Amo:” Me? Are you serious?” Me:” Yes I am, like I crushed on you since grade 9 but hey, I guess destiny doesn’t want us together.” Amo:” Then I was a fool for letting that train pass me by.” Me:” You were a player at the time and could still be so you really didn’t have time to look my way.” Amo:” Eish I guess you were too innocent for me then but believe me when I say I did look your way but felt you didn’t deserve the hurt I would have put you through.” He shrugged his shoulders. Me:” And he has a heart… Wow!” Amo:” Look I’m not all that bad hau, I have my days…” He was now holding my hands and I was sitting facing him. We looked at each other in the eyes without saying anything. I felt something just by looking at him but I was not about to set myself up for heartache.

At the chilling spot: It was Livia, Lindo, Sands, Kea and Busi. Yes Busi, they managed to sort their differences out but Busi was still not fully trusted after what she did with Amo, the friendship was shaky but it was only fair that they gave her a second chance. Busi:” Guys what’s really going on with Zee? I’m even scared of saying anything to her in class, like I’ve been keeping my distance. Ever since she got back, she’s different, she’s not the old feisty Zee.” Livia:” I don’t know either hey, she keeps saying she’ll fills us in but she never does. She’s distant, more like disconnected from everything, including her true-self. Busi:” Yeah, I get that but she’s not the old Zee. Whatever happened to her must’ve been tragic.” Kea:” What happened to her vele?” Sands:” Are you really going to talk about Zee? Are your lives that boring that you have to discuss her every time she’s not here? Ladies come on!” Lindo:” Babe calm down they are just making conversation, that’s all.” Sands:” Then maybe I should leave. Entlek vele why am I chilling with you and your friends?” Lindo:” Because you always come here to check up on me…” She said faintly. Sands:” I should stop. I don’t see you coming to check up on me. In fact that needs to change. I’m leaving.” He stood up and left. Lindo was shocked to say the least by the way Sands reacted to everything. She’s always known him to throw tantrums and be all bossy but it’s what he did when they were together and not with everyone else. She felt so embarrassed by the way he was talking to her in front of her friends. Busi:” Hau bo girl and what’s with your man?” Lindo:” Uhm… Nothing why?” She cleared her throat. Kea:” What Busi meant by that question is that, why is Sands mad that we are talking about Zee?” Lindo:” They’re friends guys and he knows more about the situation at hand than we do. He was there for her when we couldn’t.” Livia:” And whose fault is that? Zee needs to get over herself!” Lindo:” Come Livia that’s rather harsh don’t you think?” Busi:” But it is true Lindo, she acts all high and mighty over us. She ain’t our leader, we are all equals here.” Kea:” And how sure are you that they are just friends?” After Kea dropped that bombshell, the siren went leaving Lindo with all kinds of question. Kea definitely managed to plant a seed of doubt in Lindo’s mind.

Classroom: Amo:” Should we get going my lady?” Zee:” Of course.” Amo lead the way to our next class, his such a gentlemen. I enjoyed spending break with him. I hope we spend more breaks together, he knows how to put my mind at ease.
