Sands:

Me:” Ladies.” I looked at Lindo, she was not happy at all. She gave me a very cold look. I need to find a way to make it up to her. I might not be invested in what we have but she’s an interesting girl and it’s too early to ruin things between us. Livia:” So Sandile you missed school today?” She raised her brow. Me:” Yeah, I had to help Zee out.” Things were tensing up and I could see that Zee was starting to feel the negative vibe. Me:” Lindo may I speak to you, please?” I stretched out my hand to her. Her:” Sure.” She held my hand and we stood a few meters away from Zee and Livia. Me:” Babe are you okay?” I looked at her straight into her eyes. Her:” Why wouldn’t I be Sandile?” She shrugged her shoulders. Me:” You just addressed me by my full name Lindo. Do you really expect me to believe that you’re okay?”

Zee & Livia: Zee:” What’s going on there?” Livia:” It’s not my place to say anything, I’m sure Lindo will tell you.” Zee:” Okay, I hope it’s nothing serious.” Livia:” Don’t beat yourself up about it. So... 2 more weeks then you’re back at school? What happened vele?” Zee:” It’s a long story hey, but we’ll talk.” Livia nodded.

Sands & Lindo: Lindo:” What’s going on kanti? You and Zee?” Me:” Babe you know I only have eyes for you, why this jealousy?” Lindo:” I’m not jealous it’s just that things are not making sense right now. It’s like you guys have known each other since forever, I mean you’re even bunking school for her?” Me:” Love please don’t, not right now. We’ll talk about this later okay?” Lindo:” Yeah sure. So are you going to take me home?” Me:” Here take this.” I took out money from my wallet. I’m not about to make things awkward for myself. She has to take a cab, I’ll see her later. Lindo:” And this? I don’t want your money.” She frowned. Me:” Baby please take a cab, I’ll come to you later.” Lindo:” Wow Sandile!” She took the money and walked away, well more like stormed off. What did I get myself into? * * * Lindo:” Livia let’s get going. Zee it was nice seeing you again. Talk soon yeah?” She faked a smile. Zee:” It was nice seeing you guys, we’ll catch up soon.” Liv:” Bye dear.” They walked away. Zee:” And that?” She turned to look at Sands. He just shrugged his shoulders. Him:” Can we go?” Zee:” Of course.” He opened the door for her and went over to his side and drove off. The drive to Zee’s house was filled with uncomfortable silence. Sands was just focusing on the road avoiding eye contact with Zee. He was praying that she doesn’t ask him anything about what he and Lindo were talking about and what made her storm off like that. Zee on the other hand had a lot of questions but she was not about to question him right there and then. She could sense hostility in the atmosphere so she didn’t want to make things any more awkward than they already were.

Approaching Zee’s house Sands broke the silence. Him:” So you didn’t tell me why you were crying after you got your bandages removed. I mean you ran out of there crying… Is everything okay?” Zee:” Uhm… It’s nothing, I’ll get over it. Thank you again.” She looked out the window. Him:” Hey… don’t be like that, come on. You know you can always talk to me?” He turned Zee’s face so that she can face him. Him:” I know how everything looks but I promise to tell you everything but for now can we please focus on you getting completely healed?” Zee:” Of course. Let me get going. Thanks again.” Him:” Are forgetting something?” Zee:” Which is?” She raised her brow. Him:” My kiss silly.” He smirked.

Zee leaned in for a kiss and a passionate kiss it was. They were just lost in that kiss, their emotions and feelings were running wild. In that moment, Zee felt something different in the way Sands was kissing her. Could it be that she is falling in love with him?

Zee: After Sands left I felt some type of way. He keeps sending mixed signals, I’m even confused at what’s going on between us right now. We keeping doing things that girlfriend and boyfriend do but we are nowhere close to being girlfriend and boyfriend. I can’t be catching feelings now after I have vowed that this is just entertainment. Besides everything else, him and Lindo looked rather cosy, could it be that they are together? But he wouldn’t be kissing me whilst dating my friend right? I guess there is nothing there.

Arriving home reminded me of what dad had told Dr Dlamini, I wanted to be mad but I couldn’t even evoke feelings of anger. Somehow I just wanted to move on from all this, it’s time for healing and that will not happen if I keep focusing on anger and hurt. All this drama needs to be buried, I might be stuck with these scars but they will not define me from here onward. “What’s going on in that mind of yours?” Of course, I was standing at the door and by the way mom was looking at me it looks like I was standing here for a while. Me:” It’s nothing really, how are you?” Her:” I’m good thanks dear. I see the bandages are gone…” She smiled. Me:” Gone and forgotten. Time to start a new chapter.” I smiled. Her:” I’m happy for you and I’m sorry Zara for everything, I know that those scars will always be a reminder of that night.” She looked down. Me:” Don’t sweat it mom, I’ve already forgiven you, now can we move on from this?” Her:” Of course dear.” I went to give her a hug, she looked like she needed to be embraced, so being the good daughter that I am, I did just that. Mom started tearing up in my embrace. O-kay, honestly I didn’t know what to do. Me:” Hey mom… What’s wrong?” I pulled away from the hug and looked at her. The way she was sobbing, shame it broke my heart. She is definitely going through some heavy stuff. Her:” I… It’s nothing mommy can’t handle. You just caught me off guard with that hug.” She faked a smile. Me:” Mom you’re not okay, please ta…” Her:” I said I’m fine Zara!!! I’m the adult her okay???” She snapped. Me:” I’m sorry, I’ll excuse myself then.” I walked towards the stairs, as far as I know I am not about to fight with her again. The last time I did that I ended up in hospital, so I’ll just let her be. Her:” Wait…” I turned to look at her. Her:” I’m sorry for shouting like that, I know you mean well but for now I need you to let go of this, it’s nothing to concern yourself with okay?” Her:” By all means mom.” I left her there and went up to my room, I just hope whatever it is its nothing big. She’s a strong woman, she’ll get past this.

Sands: I drove straight to Lindo’s house, I needed to calm her a bit. I don’t want her ruining any chances of me getting with Zee. I know I’m crazy thinking I can date both friends but when the time is right, I’ll tell Zee that I want to be with her and then dump Lindo but before I dump her I must have me a piece of that cookie. She’s been playing hard to fuck but eventually she’ll give in, I’m a very patient guy.

(Dialed her number)

She answered on the first ring, it’s like she was waiting for my call. Her:” Babe…” Me:” I’m outside.” Her:” Okay, I’m coming.” She got to the car in 2 minutes after I hung up, she’s been waiting for me shame poor girl. Her:” Are you not going to open the door for me like you did for Zee?” She folded her arms. Me:” We’re comparing now?” Her:” No, but you…” I didn’t even let her finish, I just opened the door for her from inside. Me:” Get in before I lose it!” She got in, it’s about time I teach her respect. I don’t have time for her childishness. Her:” Get on with it!” She had a serious look on her face. Me:” And then? What’s with you? Better lose that attitude if you know what’s good for you.” I clicked my tongue. Her:” But you said that we’re going to talk about what’s going on between you and Zee, is that not why you’re here?” Me:” I know why I’m here but you will not talk to me like that.” I shot her a death stare. Her:” You know what? I don’t have time for this…” She opened the door… Me:” Get off this car and it’s over between us…” She looked at me in disbelief. Her:” Are you not going to beg me to stay or something?” Did she just say ‘beg’ and ‘me’ in one sentence? She’s testing me serious! Me:” Lindo please don’t patronize me!” I clenched my jaw. Her:” Mxim!!!” Me:” You know what? Get off my car, I don’t have time for your childish games.” Her:” Okay I’ll stay then.” She closed the door. I got off and went to her side and opened the door… Me:” Get off!!! Now!” Her:” Sandile you can’t be serious?” She looked shocked. Me:” You don’t want me to drag you right? So do yourself a favour and get off!” She got off, stood in front of me. She leaned in for a kiss, I closed the door and went to my side and opened the door. Me:” Check that attitude of yours or you’ll lose me.” I got in and started the ignition and drove off. That will teach her a lesson. I’m not about to entertain her childish ways and disrespect. I mean, Zee doesn’t give me all this crap. I haven’t told her that I want a relationship but you don’t see her asking me all types of questions about relationships and stuff. She knows her place and that’s why I love her so much.
